How An Open Space Design Survived My Weekend Guests

After three weeks of obsessive measuring, I found a model that fit my specific dimensions. It is a compact sofa bed with a slatted frame hidden inside the base. The slatted frame is essential, because a solid plywood base under a mattress traps humidity and creates that sweaty, spongy feeling you get from cheap fold-out couches. This one has a proper 16 cm foam mattress that folds out from the seat, so sleeping on it actually feels like sleeping on a real bed, not a camping mat. But the real innovation is the backrest.
